Echinacea (Coneflower) "PollyNation Yellow" - Rudbeckia purpurea.
A flirtatious Echinacea that will happily dance a lively dance in a sunny flowerbed. Its yellow skirt, gathered from smooth silky petals, smoothly transitions into a velvety dark center. Large basket inflorescences maintain their attractive appearance for a long period. Plant height 65 cm.
Used for flower arrangements and dry bouquets. Effective in group plantings, mixborders, and for cutting.
SOWING: April-May in open ground or for seedlings in February-March. Seeds require preliminary stratification: sow seeds, moisten, cover with glass or plastic, and place in a refrigerator (temp. +5+7°C). Crops are kept in such conditions for 14-21 days, then moved to room conditions. At a temp. of +20+22°C, seedlings appear on the 14-20th day. Seedlings are dived (pricked out) at the stage of 1-2 true leaves. Seedlings are planted in the ground at the end of May, keeping a distance of 30-35 cm between plants.
Care: Prefers sunny places with nutritious, well-cultivated soil. Responds well to feeding with a solution of complex mineral fertilizer. At the end of the season, the stems are cut to the root. In conditions of Estonia and northern climates, it is recommended to cover with leaves for the winter.
